Chris Dougherty resigns from all positions at the end of the season

Dear Members and Parents

With the season now into its 7th week and the bulk of the administrative work required to get the season under way now complete, it is considered an appropriate time to let you all know that I will be resigning from all of my official duties with the club at the end of this season.

After 7 years active participation at the club in various roles including committee member, coach, junior coordinator, Treasurer, MyCricket administrator and website developer the time has now come for others to take on and share the roles I will be vacating.

While the last 7 years have been enjoyable, it has come time where I need to re-balance the amount of time I am spending at the club and use that time for other endeavours away from cricket including my family, friends, work and looking after myself.

It is time for fresh ideas to be injected into the club at both junior and senior levels to help it continue through its next phase of rebuilding.   Junior parents with children in the junior program are more appropriate to take on the junior roles, while I hope Senior registered players become involved in the administration of their club at a senior level rather than “just play cricket”.

The timing of this announcement is made now to provide sufficient time for people interested in taking on the various roles to shadow me and learn the ropes.

To this end I have developed a task manual to provide the next group of club administrators with a checklist of the various functions that need to be undertaken to ensure the club can put both junior and senior teams on the park.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have assisted me during the course of the last 7 years and I know there are many good people around the club that will take on and do a better job than what I have done.

The effective date of my resignation will be the presentation day 24 March 2012.

If anyone would like a copy of the manual and want to shadow me for the remainder of the season please contact me on 0432 655 403, or via email at Avondale@club.cricketvictoria.com.au

I thank the Avondale Heights Cricket Club for bringing me into contact with so many people in our local community and I wish the Club all the best for the future.

Kind Regards

Chris Dougherty
