Club to field 3 turf teams in 2010-11

As part of the continued push by the committee to provide a transition from junior hard wicket cricket to senior turf, the club is happy to announce that it will field a team in the Moreland Moonee Valley Turf Cricket Association this coming season.

This team will be in addition to the two teams afifiliated in the VTCA competition.

This now gives a genuine transition path to develop our senior turf teams from those players graduating from the junior section.

It is still envisaged that the Senior Hard Wicket team will continue this year based on the same concept as last year with a mix of older dads with a mix of under 16's and other seniors playing a mix of 2 day and 1 day cricket.

2010 Bunnings Suasage Sizzle

The 2010 Bunnings Sausage Sizzle will be held at the Highpoint Bunnings Store on Saturday 11 September 2010. Last years was a great event and we consider that this one will be even bigger given that it is the Saturday immediately after Father's Day. The smell of freshly cooked sausages will be very tempting for the dads who come in to spend their Father's Day gift vouchers. We'll even have registration forms to sign up some new members. Parents and members keep this day free as we will need lots of helpers on the day.

1st XI Incentive Scheme Announced

The committee has agreed to introduce a capped incentive scheme for 1st XI players this season subject to the players meeting eligibility criteria.

The scheme is designed to:
  • reward and recognise the commitment to our home grown talent,

  • encourage each player in the club to aspire to play 1st XI cricket with the club, and

  • encoruage and reward performance based on a team goal rather than one individual.

To be eligible for payments under the scheme players must:
  • Pay their FULL membership fee prior to the first match of the season.

  • Achieve the minimum individual eligibility target (5% of total team champion points), and

  • The entire team achieves the team eligibility target (800 points)

Full details will be outlined to all players at a team meeting in September.More details can be provided to those who attend pre-season training.
