Michael Montesano was the latest player to make his first XI debut this season. Michael's techniqu and application in the 2nd XI earned him a spot in the team for the last round.
Batting at number 10 he displayed the determination and style that earned his selection by being not out at the end of the innings.
Congratulations Michael on making your debut.
Michael won the clubs inaugurual fantasy league competition and will receive his $50 voucher from Borders at the junior presentation.
The competition will be back bigger and better next year.

Under 12s lose Quarter Final to Taylors Lakes
The under 12's were outplayed in the quarter final against Taylors Lakes. We restricted Taylors Lakes to 8 for 107 off their allocated 28 overs. The highlight of the bowling was Michael Nikoloski, playing his first under 12 match, took a wicketoff his first ball. Not to be outdone fellow under 12 debutant Maysen Murgov bowled two tight over to only concede 1 run. Wickets fell regularly with Jacob Cutri and Daniel Mozina catching everything that came near them.
We lost too many wickets too early and that put a lot of pressure on the middle and lower orders. Had the top order hung in there, we would have been a chance. Pickl of the batsman was Faisal Dewan who made a very good 17 not out.
As coach Rocco Montesano said after the match, the boys had a great season and the club was proud of their efforts. Some of the boys now go to the under 14's while the core of the under 12's will be joined by players such as Michael Nikoloski and Maysen Murgove coming out of under 10's.
Well done boys.
Under 14s out of finals due to rain
The under 14's who earned a spot in the finals after a great win in the last round, ventured out to Craigieburn to take on the top team.
Batting first, the boys did extremely well in a team that was depleted by boys on holidays. Thomas Addison, David Zivanic and Luka Pavlovic all offered to sub for the team.
Batting first we achieved our first goal of batting all our overs to finish the day on 4/130. Stefan Zivanic made his 3rd consecutive 50 and he was well supported by a very sick Zoli Kowalczewski and John McHardy who both finished not out on 18 and 13 respectively.
Alas, the rain came and the subs never got to field and we will never know whether the score would have got us to the grandfinal.
Nevertheless, the boys under the coaching of David McHardy had a fantastic year just to make the finals.
The boys never gave in and even when the season seemed lost the boys had aenough belief in themseleves that they pulled off an improbable finals berth.
Congratulations to the boys and David McHArdy for a great year

Senior Coach WantedThe club has commenced rebuilding the club with no fewer than 7 players under the age of 18 making their senior debut for the club in 2009-10.
With a strong junior program of over 80 kids, the flow of youth into the senior teams is expected to grow even further over the next few years.
The successful applicant must be able to develop these players into a strong, experienced and team focussed core of players that will be able to represent Avondale Heights over the next 10 years.

Stefan Zivanic (Under 14's) made his 3rd consecutive half century in the under 14's semi final match against Craigieburn. Unfortunatley with the rain over the weekend, we will never know if it was enough to get the team into the grand final.
It capped of a stellar season for Stefan who made over 350 runs for the season.
Congratulations Stefan and the under 14's on a great season.

Voting for the Markham Medal and Shellie Medals continues. These medals are awarded to the best player in the Senior (Markham) and Junior (Shellie) divisions of the club respectively. The votes for the Markham Medal are awarded by the captains of the 1st and 2nd XI's on a 3-2-1 basis.
The Leigh Shellie which was awarded for the first time last season is voted across all age groups in the junior section on a 3-2-1 basis by the Senior Coach. Rohit Allada won the medal on the last vote of the season and it is expected the award will be hotly contested again this season.
